This work is exemplary of Yuji Agematsu’s decades-old practice of forming found-object collages from overlooked detritus along his daily walks. Placed in cigarette pack cellophane wrappers and held together by resin, each sculpture is displayed on a wall-mounted grid, forming a calendar of visceral material relationships that map time, routine and the contingencies of connected space. This particular set of sculptures encapsulates a dramatic shift in perception and practice with public space wrought by a viral pandemic.
